The Adolescent Health Clinic

MULTI-PROFESSIONAL CLINIC

Healthcare for Adolescents

The Adolescent Clinic of the Bnai Zion Medical Center, known in Haifa as the “Adolescent Health Clinic” has been operating in its current form since 2004, and is the first multi-professional clinic of its kind in Israel operating within a general hospital, not within a psychiatric ward. The target audience of Bnai Zion’s patients is teenagers aged 12-24 in the North, especially teenagers who are managing challenges in the physical-medical, emotional or social-familial fields.

A HOLISTIC APPROACH

Managed by a multi-professional team

The clinic employs a multi-professional team skilled in working with teenagers, who believe in a holistic and non-judgmental approach. The clinic, managed by Dr. Noga Kerem, specializes in adolescent medicine and eating disorders. Her team is comprised of clinical nutritionists, therapists from the fields of psychology, social work, arts therapy and family therapy. In addition, continuous professional updating includes group training each week and professional team meetings once every two weeks.

The holistic approach of the clinic is reflected in therapeutic treatment of adolescents within the family, school and social fabric in which they live. Therapeutic resources include prevention and health education. The clinic maintains close working relationships with the pediatricians in the community, the adolescent clinics of the health funds and the education system in the city, and serves as a resource to pediatricians and family doctors, therapists and members of educational and advisory teams in the area schools.
