Haifa’s Bnai Zion Medical Center Treating Severe Traumas Caused by Iranian Missile Attacks

Intensity of missile attacks reflected in effects not previously seen by medical staff

HAIFA, IsraelJune 16, 2025—The Bnai Zion Medical Center, a 454-bed hospital in Haifa, Israel, today reported that it is treating numerous patients injured or traumatized by Iranian missile attacks over the last four days. Bnai Zion’s experienced staff has not before seen such severe trauma among the city’s civilian population—reflecting the intensity of the attacks and the destructive impact of Iran’s weaponry.

“We’ve all been living through a lot in the last eighteen months, but we’re seeing far more serious effects in the last few days,” said Dr. Ohad Hochman, Bnai Zion’s CEO. “Patients are coming in with significant injuries from explosions, hearing loss, and traumas that require medical attention.”

Bnai Zion has spent years preparing to handle the challenges of the last few days. The Bnai Zion team has extensive experience handling severe trauma cases. The Israeli government designated the hospital an official military hospital to meet the medical needs of soldiers in the region. Those who are wounded in any part of the country may be sent to Haifa, especially if they live north of Tel Aviv.

The hospital has a hardened underground facility that protects patients and practitioners from bombs as well as chemical and biological attacks. According to Dr. Ochman, “We’re able to handle victims of Iranian attacks no matter how bad things get.”

In such extreme conditions, Bnai Zion Medical Center is also seeking support to fund patient care and necessary equipment.
